Plano High School was heated early on by coal. The coal bin was located at the back of the building. Later, the heating system was by steam radiators. The junior high girls didn’t mind sitting next to the radiators, which were underneath the swing-down windows that leaked cold air in the winter, because the bookcases, filled with Nancy Drew books, were located on that side of the room between the radiators.
