THE FRANKFORD CHURCH
THE WHITE ROCK MASONIC LODGE
HALL SERVED AS A SCHOOLHOUSE
AND CHURCH BUILDING FOR THE EARLY
FRANKFORD COMMUNITY. AMONG THE
WORSHIPERS WERE A GROUP OF
METHODISTS WHO WERE ORGANIZED
AS PART OF A CIRCUIT IN 1885. IN THE
1890S, THIS FRAME CHURCH BUILDING
WAS ERECTED THROUGH THE EFFORTS
OF CAPTAIN WILLIAM McKAMY (1823-
1902) AND SEVERAL NEIGHBORS. THE
METHODISTS OCCUPIED THE STRUCTURE
UNTIL 1924. EPISCOPAL SERVICES BEGAN
HERE IN THE 1960S.

....The original
church register has been found, and it shows the first ten names to be: Rachel
L. McKamy (1853), William C. McKamy (1853), Drucilla P. Foster, John L. McKamy
(1868), Annie L. McKamy (1874), Roy Simpson, Jonas M. Huffman, Annie Warner, and
Ellen Simpson. The ministers listed were W. H. Hughes, John Beverly, and R. W.
Jamson.... Some of the other ministers were T. J. Milam, J. W. Blackburn, M. W.
Shearer, E. R. Edwards and C. C. Davis. ...
Captain McKamy had married October 21, 1845 a Miss Rachel L. Wester of Roan
County, Tennessee. They had seven children:
1. William Albert who married Ellen Simpson, the daughter of Lionel Simpson, a
Peters Colonist. They had six sons.
2. Keziah who died in infancy.
3. John L. McKamy who married Anna Simpson. They had three children: Emma who
married Dr. Dye; Lionell who was the grandfather of John Skelton; and Charlie.
4. Margaret who died in infancy.
5. Mary who married Col. Bishop and live on the Simpson homeplace...
6. William C. McKamy, lawyer, stockman and state senator who lived in the old
Captain McKamy homeplace.
7. Charlie C. who died in 1886 at age 22.
