May 18, 2024 - "A Foundational Step in Research Strategy - What is the Research Question?"
Effective research questions should be about a specific person that will help to frame the research scope. This will lead to relevant information and hopefully will identify evidence that will answer the research question. This session will discuss how to determine and write effective research questions to guide your research strategy and process. Examples from current and past research will be used. How to manage multiple research questions using technology will also be reviewed.
Speaker: Emily Richardson
Emily C. Richardson retired from 30 years in higher education to follow her passion of genealogy by opening Kinsearchers, a firm dedicated to helping others find their ancestors and preserve their photos, documents and memorabilia. Growing up with a mother who was a genealogist introduced her to the importance of original documents in the pursuit of family ancestors. Emily is currently the secretary for the Texas State Genealogical Society, a director-at-large for the Fort Worth Genealogical Society, and a member of several genealogical societies in the DFW metroplex. Emily speaks professionally and teaches courses for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UNT focused on genealogy. She serves as a mentor for the NGS
course: American Genealogical Studies: Beyond the Basics and as a coordinator for ProGen49.
